We’ve wanted a dog for a long time. But it just wouldn’t have been fair to get a puppy in our last house, which didn’t have a garden. Now we’ve moved, and have a lot more outside space, we finally decided that the time was right!
Did you know that the adoption rate for dogs in shelters and homes has shot up with the lockdown? This is great news for those dogs looking for their forever homes. Providing that they’re being adopted for the right reasons of course!
Just remember – a dog is for life, and requires a LOT of care, attention. You also need to commit to walking your dog multiple times a day, whatever the weather!
We’ve been having to restrain ourselves from going all out and buying ALL the things for Samson. There are so many great products for dogs out there! So here are a few of our favourite dog products from Scentsy and elsewhere!
Memory Foam Dog Bed
We wanted to invest in a quality dog bed for Samson, that will last him a long time. This one from The Dog’s Bed is a great option, and though expensive will last for years.
The bed is made from high quality, luxury memory foam and provides medical grade orthopaedic support. Coming in a variety of sizes and colours it’s big enough for your pup to stretch out on. It also has removable and washable water-resistant covers – very important in those early years!

Slow Feeder Dog Bowl
One thing about puppies is that they LOVE their food, and often pretty much inhale it rather than eating properly. This can not only make them be sick, but can also lead to dangerous conditions like bloat.
This bowl is one of our favourite dog products, and a great option. As well as being BPA free the bowl is made of the safest food-grade melamine. It’s sturdy and built to last. It’s also dishwasher safe, and easy to clean.The bowl has non-slip rubber on the base which prevents it from moving about and spilling food everywhere. You can use it with all types of food, from dried, to raw, to traditional ‘wet’ dog food. See it here! Dog Raincoat
It might seem odd that we’d be looking at dog raincoats when we live in a warm country. But believe us, when it rains here it RAINS! And if it’s raining all day you still have to take the dog out.
This raincoat by Hurtta isn’t cheap, but it’s great quality. Made from lightweight waterproof and breathable shell fabric it will keep your pooch bone dry. The highly visible 3M® reflectors will also help with safety when you’re out and about on the darker evenings.
An adjustable rain collar prevents water from getting in around the neck area. The comfortable wide belly flap keeps the coat in place, without restricting your dog’s movement (even when he’s playing!).

Puppy Chew Toys
Warning – teething puppies can be a danger to pretty much anything lying around the home! Including handbags and shoes, and much-loved toys!
The selection of chew toys made by Kong are the most indestructible we’ve came across. They come in a range of sizes and styles, for all breeds of dogs. They’re definitely some of our favourite dog products from our recent purchases!
The Kong Wubba Puppy Toy is a ‘tug and toss’ toy that is great for using in play with your pup (for fetch and tugging games!) . It’s also great for your dog to wrestle with on their own.

Pup Pampering with Scentsy!
It’s a fact of life that dogs get messy now and again. The phrase ‘mucky pup’ didn’t come out of nowhere!
That’s why we love to keep Samson looking and smelling his best with the fantastic range of Scentsy pet products!
Of course our pet’s safety is always our primary concern. That’s why Scentsy products are formulated with gentle ingredients to pamper our furry friends. As well as being made with mild, pet-safe fragrances the range is also 100% vegan.
We start off with a shampoo with our Best Bud Suds Pet Shampoo, which is sulphate-free and moisturising. Ths shampoo includes aloe, sunflower oil and colloidal oatmeal to gently cleanse and condition your pet’s fur. At the same time it hydrates dry, itchy skin.
For a little fragrance boost (or for a top-up between shampoos if your pet is getting whiffy!) we use a squirt or two of Freshen Up Pup Dog Deodorising Spray. This is an odour neutralising spray to eliminate those those ‘pee-yew’ moments with a little burst of Scentsy fragrance. Like our shampoos, the spray is infused with aloe, colloidal oatmeal and sunflower oil to condition the coat and skin.
For those of you with long-haired pups you can complete your grooming kit with the No Knot Spot Dog Detangling Spray! This mat-busting spray easily tangles and keeps your doggie looking dapper (and smelling fresh), with the same moisturising and caring ingredients as the rest of the range.

Honey and Chamomile, where honey and vanilla brighten up soothing chamomile for a fragrance that’s as sweet as a sunny day.
Oatmeal and Aloe, which is a mellow mix of oatmeal, aloe and delicate almond blossom to soothe your pet.
Orange Zest and Nectar, where Tangy orange zest and sweet, sweet nectar are softened by a subtle hint of white grain.
Tea Tree and Peppermint, a zingy, lively, invigorating blend of peppermint and tea tree to keep things fresh!
New for 2020 in the Best Buds Suds and Freshen Up Pup products is the gorgeous Coconut Milk and Lavender fragrance – sweet, creamy coconut layered over lavender for a fresh and tranquil treat.
