Scentsy's New Leadership Titles Explained: What Changed on 1 September 2026

Scentsy’s Leadership Titles Changed on 1 September

Scentsy’s Leadership Titles Changed on 1 September, replacing names that have been in place for over 20 years. Having sold Scentsy since April 2011, when we became the first Consultants in the UK and Europe, we have seen plenty of changes come and go. This is one of the bigger ones for how leadership gets recognised.

Scentsy has been clear that this is a language and recognition update only. Compensation, qualifications, and the structure of the compensation plan are not changing.

Why Did Scentsy’s Leadership Titles Change on 1 September?

Scentsy explained that many of the old titles had been in place for more than 20 years and don’t always describe what a Consultant actually does day to day, especially to someone new looking at the opportunity. The new titles follow the natural progression of partnering, coaching, and mentoring others as a Consultant grows their business.

What Happens to Director Q?

The new system has removed what many in the field have called Director Q, the situation where Director was the only title someone could earn and later lose. Once a Consultant reaches Mentor, they keep the Mentor title permanently. If someone no longer qualifies as a breakaway Director for compensation purposes, they move back to Associate Mentor for pay structure only, while still being recognised as the leader of their team.

Scentsy is treating leadership recognition and compensation structure as two separate things, which is the change a lot of leaders have been asking for.

How Do You Promote to Mentor Now?

To officially promote from Associate Mentor to Mentor, a Consultant now needs to qualify at Mentor level performance for two consecutive months rather than one. Scentsy shared that leaders who qualified for two consecutive months were four times more likely to maintain their leadership than those who only qualified for a single month.

Importantly, during that qualifying period a Consultant is still paid at Mentor level, their upline still receives the correct breakaway credit, and their performance is still recognised. The official title simply follows once consistency is demonstrated.

Is the Compensation Plan Changing?

No. Scentsy has repeated this clearly: compensation is not changing, qualifications are not changing, and the structure of the plan is not changing. Only the titles and the recognition timing changed. Host Rewards was also renamed Insider Rewards on the same date, with the rewards themselves staying the same. We cover that in our separate post on the Insider Rewards rename.

My Thoughts

Fifteen years in, I can say Director Q has always been one of the hardest things to explain to a new leader on our team, the idea that you could earn a title and then lose it always felt discouraging. Separating recognition from the compensation structure is a sensible fix. The Associate Mentor title recognising leaders earlier is a good move too, since we’ve had Superstar Consultants on our team doing real mentoring long before they technically had a leadership title to match it.
