How to get wax out of a carpet with no iron in five easy steps
1. Freeze the wax.
Put the plastic bag of ice or an ice pack on the wax. I always wrap the bag or pack in a towel so the wax doesn’t get wet.
2. Scrape the wax off with the knife.
Use your knife to scrape off as much once the wax is frozen, remove as much as you can. Skip to step four if you remove all the wax.
3. Prepare and heat the stain.
Place the paper towel or brown paper on the wax stain. Put the hot water bowl on the wax stain and heat it, the towel or paper should soak up the wax. Keep moving the hot water bowl over the wax area to get it all. HOT TIP: move your paper or towel often to make sure its a fresh bit to soak the wax up. Repeat this step until all the wax is gone.
4. Clean the carpet.
If there are any tiny bits of wax or dye stains in the carpet use a commercial carpet cleaner or rubbing alcohol. Blot the area with a clean cloth. HOT TIP: I test a patch first before I use anything on the carpet.
5. Vacuum.
Clean up all the last wax bits and get the texture of your carpet back by vacuuming with the upholstery brush attachment. And there you should have it – you have removed the wax from your carpet without using an iron.
