It’s the most wonderful time of the year, right?! So why does it often feel like the most stressful?
Don’t get us wrong, we love the process of getting ready for the big day! But it’s easy to get overwhelmed, and it can begin to feel like one giant, stressful to-do list. Particularly this year when things aren’t quite the same.
Here are some tips to keep you sane during your Christmas prep…
Start the process as early as you can!
Make lists, and break down the big, scary jobs into lots of manageable little ones.
Shop Smart (and early if possible!)!
Make a simple shopping list, and buy online where possible. If you can, try to batch your presents so they’re delivered on the same day when you can plan to be at home. Make sure to update your ‘safe place’ for the postie and couriers too.
Write up your Christmas card list
Once it’s done, save it on your computer for future Christmases! We love a good spreadsheet…
Put a date in the diary for your Christmas food shop…
And DON’T go without a list! Again, organising an online delivery is a great option if you can.
Do a declutter
Clear space for new toys and clothes in your kids’ rooms in particular!
Put a date in your calendar for picking up fresh items
Around a week before the day is the ideal time to shop for any fresh ingredients. Can you start preparing/chopping veg or making sauces, and freezing them?
Make sure you’re stocked up with batteries!
There’s nothing worse than realising you don’t have the right size for all those new toys, and nowhere is open!
Above all, don’t worry if things aren’t perfect – it’s meant to be a relaxed, family day! Remember to take time out for you when you need it too so you’re not running around completely frazzled.
