Why There’s Always Wax Left in the Bottom of a Scentsy Candle?
Wax left in the bottom of a Scentsy Candle isn’t a flaw — it’s an innovative, safety-first feature that’s part of how our candles are intentionally designed.
If you’ve ever reached the end of your Scentsy soy candle and spotted a little layer of wax still sitting at the bottom, don’t worry — it’s meant to be there. And there’s a very good reason why.
The Leftover Wax Is a Built-In Safety Feature
Scentsy Candles are carefully crafted to leave a small layer of wax at the base of each jar. This isn’t a mistake or manufacturing error — it’s a thoughtful design element to keep your home and surfaces safe.
That last little bit of wax is there to:
- Prevent the vessel from overheating
- Protect your furniture or surfaces from heat damage
- Avoid cracking or breakage of the jar base
- Ensure the wick remains stable and the flame doesn’t burn too low
By leaving this wax behind, your Scentsy Candle finishes its life just as beautifully and safely as it began.

Wax Left in the Bottom of a Scentsy Candle – Designed With Intention and Tested for Safety
Each Scentsy Candle is made in-house at our production facility in Meridian, Idaho, using a clean-burning soy-paraffin wax blend and natural or synthetic wicks explicitly chosen for each fragrance.
Our candles are tested to comply with ASTM International safety standards, which help ensure safe combustion, proper wick performance, and flame control throughout the burn.
Wax Left in the Bottom of a Scentsy Candle? It’s part of that standard — and helps your candle pass all the tests that matter most.
Why You Shouldn’t Try to Burn It All
It might be tempting to scoop out that last bit of wax and relight it… But please don’t! you have to have wax left in the bottom of a Scentsy Candle.
Here’s why you should stop burning when there’s around 0.6 cm of wax remaining:
- Burning beyond that point can overheat the jar
- It puts the glass vessel at risk of cracking
- It may cause flame instability or wick issues
Trust your candle to know when it’s done. When that wax buffer is all that’s left, let it cool, clean out the vessel, and reuse or recycle it.
Frequently Asked: Is Something Wrong With My Candle?
Not at all! Here are a few things you might notice — and why they’re perfectly normal:
- Why does the Scentsy candle wax pull away from the glass?
That’s just the wax naturally contracting as it cools. It can cause air pockets or slight gaps between the wax and the jar. Safe and cosmetic only. - Why isn’t the Scentsy Candle wax coloured?
Scentsy Candles aren’t dyed, but different fragrance oils may naturally tint the wax. This doesn’t affect quality or burn. - There’s Scentsy Candle wax left at the bottom!
Exactly — and now you know why! It’s by design, not a defect.
